I want to give marriage rights to gay couples but my sense is that it's too interconnected with other rights. I'm afraid they will try to force us to teach gay rights in schools, marry gay couples in our temples and churches, etc. Though I don't hate gays I have a tough time with it. It makes me sick to see same sex couples kiss and become the norm in society. I didn't like hearing about my gay coworkers sex life any more than I do my heterosexual coworkers sex life. But now it's trendy. I'm not sure what the solution is but redefining marriage certainly isn't it. I feel much the same as I do about abortion. Is it wrong? YES. Is it necessary? Sometimes. I hate it being a political issue but there is no way around it. Gay marriage is the same - it has to be decided. I hope we can come up with something because there is no doubt that gays need more rights in this area - just not full on marriage. I totally understand your point.
